Threats

There are many threats to Amur Leopards. We are the main cause of the species’ endangerment status. Poaching is a major cause of species’ endangerment status. Poaching of both leopards and the prey of leopards is a dangerous threat. Russia has a hunting culture and for sport.

Forest fires are a direct threat to Amur leopards as they reduce the animals’ natural forest habitat, taking away the trees that leopards like to camouflage in

Diseases such as Canine Distemper Virus (CDV), are threatening the Amur leopard population.
